This guy can really play. I love all his work with Erykah Badu. Big Badu fan here. I saw him on Chapelle's Show and he was really smoking. Just wondering who else loves this guy? Anyone know what gear he uses? |

I have been trying to get in touch with him lately, but not had much luck. RC replied to me, but didnt give me any info on how to get a hold of Braylon hehe.
He plays on Chappels Block Party dvd as well with Eryka. RC Williams is another high school friend that plays keys with Eryka as well and is also on the DVD. He used a p-bass on that performance anyhow I believe. He played a jazz in high school Im pretty sure. |

I have met him a few times, but don't know him. A few guys I play with here in Dallas play with him occasionally so I get most of my information from them. Those gigs are more of the smooth jazz/light funk variety and that is where he has been known to use a Jazz Bass with rounds and the AG500 and Aguilar 412 cab. Now for Badu's stuff, the P with flats into an Aguilar DB750 would be ideal. Between Braylon and Hubert Eaves IV, man, Badu has had a couple of amazing bass players work for her.
Braylon is such a great player and seems to be an equally great guy.

When I lived in Texas, I used to go there. It's a good church and Braylon sounds awesome in the great band and chorus Covenant has. They play really funky charts and Braylon is totally the backbone of that band. I heard them with Braylon a lot, then one Wed night, Braylon couldn't make it or was out of town or something and they had another bass player. The band just wasn't the same. He was a great player, but Braylon's shoes were just way too big to fill.

All I can see is that he is using a DB750 and (maybe) a 410, but he really stands right in front of it. |

but yea, in the clip you can see there's a much smaller cab underneath the 750. just to show how much time i wasted looking into this, i'm pretty sure its a GS112 1x12. the dimensions of the larger 10" loaded cabs wouldnt have allowed the sides of the 750 to hang over, whereas the the 12" cab is the same width as the amp, and the flight case would overhang.
oi... too much time...

Originally Posted by Juneau Jake, I live in Carrollton. Im not a church goer at all...but perhaps you could let me know when to go to catch Braylon playing there? | Hey Juneau, I am not 100% sure if Braylon is still the regular bass player at Covenant Church. I saw him with the band there in 2005.
Here is their service schedule:
Sunday - 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.
First Sunday only - 7:00 p.m.
Monday - 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.
Last Wednesday only - 7:00 p.m. (Praise & Worship)
Saturday - 7:00 p.m.
The best times to catch the band would be Sunday morning and on the last Wednesday of the month Praise and Worship service @ 7pm.
I just emailed Covenant to ask if Braylon is still the regular bass player, I'll let you know when they get back to me.
All the best,
Jake
