I've seen pictures of him using a Ric in the early days and a p-bass in the latter days. Anyone have info on what was used in the studio. He's got a really cool tone on those records. I'm guessing he used a pick to - get's some good growl and punch. Thanks.

Hope this helps...

The Epi and Hofner weren't really used live much.... for that it was mostly the Ric up to The Modern World and the Pbass after that.

eh?
maybe the Epiphone had flats on it (eg. Start) but I'm pretty sure it was roundwounds on nearly everything.
