Buddy Hankerson slap tone.

Well I've always loved Louis Johnson's slap tone/style. But recently I've been listening to more Buddy Hankerson and I'm really lovin his tone/style a lot. I noticed he plays an old Fender J Bass but his tone seems much meatier to me than other slap bassists who play the same bass. Is it just a matter of the tone he dialed in or how he plays? Or maybe I just haven't herd enough examples of J Bass slapped?
