My band just played a show opening up for the Budos Band last night. Has anyone seen these dudes or know about them?
The bass player was playing a Gibson short scale bass in an almost upright position. I am guessing that he might have pulled the frets or that it was fretless. I am going to say that he had the most unique tone that I have ever heard in a live situation... kind of overdriven, maybe flat wounds and the treble turned all the way down? It was the best show my band has ever played and then I danced so hard to the Budos Band that I am completely sore today and hoarse from yelling. There was a full on BREAKDANCING competition going on in the crowd!
