Hey, there must be tons of "who is this dude" requests here, but I just have to find out this bassist's name. As seen in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZQF2KAWY5c

He's playing with Michael Brecker in 1987. It's very, very tight....

That Clip is awsome!

One because of Sterns solo!

Two is because Caldarazzo is about 19 and looks 13.

Wow, thanks guys! Sorry I couldn't find out the dude's name by myself, but at the very least I provided a link to one of the best guitar solos I've ever seen.

I was in a band that opened for Doc Severisen in around 1980 in Anchorage AK and Jeff Andrews was the bass player then, he was pretty good in that band too, but I always thought he was doing the Jaco-lite thing....

Can't see the vid at work but am well aware of Jeff Andrews! Dude is a monster! He was a member of Steve Smith's Vital Information for a few years! I also know he's a huge Jaco fan!

Jeff is a great bassist!

I used to see Joey Calderazzo and Adam Nussbaum, with Bruce Gertz... what a great line up!

I saw the very first gig that Joey Calderazzo played with Brecker. It was in Pittsburgh, in '86 (I think). He was a last-minute sub for Kenny Kirkland. He absolutely tore the place up.

By the way, not that music should be an athletic competition, but I thought that Jeff Andrews was the fastest bassist I had heard up to that point. I saw him with Wayne Shorter in 1990, and he sounded really good.

Joey is crazy good! I miss Kenny Kirkland, one of the greatest cats out there...

I saw Jeff when he was with Steve Smith, he was incredible! Playing with Michael Brecker must have paid off, because he soloed like a horn player all night. I've seen a lot of players in my time and Jeff is up there with some of the best I've saw.....wonderful player!

Man, that was absolutely mad! Awesome performance, I love everything about that... the keyboard tone is a little cheesy for me, but I can deal. That bass tone is like the best fusion tone I've ever heard.

The lyricon was the precursor to the Electronic Wind Instrument...Tom Scott was one of the few I recall playing a lyricon during the '70s...at least on record.
Steve Tav was another EWI specialist. I have an album by him where I thought the lead instrument was a keyboardist
& not a reed player.

There also the EVI...Electronic Valve Instrument for Brass players.

There was also some sorta 'breath controller' adapter/attachment for synth players.
All attempts to have reed & brass players sound more like a synth...and synth players sound more like reed/brass players.

they were actually great friends... plus, JA had one of Jaco's basses for a while towards the end of Jaco's life, FWIR.
