There is something ****ing wrong with you.
Never mind the fact JJ is dead.

Anyway, why on earth would a phenomenal bassist like that WANT to play the trooper, im sure he would have better things to use his talents for.

Not only could Jamerson PLAY "The Trooper", I believe he in fact WROTE the piece!

I thought it was a joke too, until I saw a listing of JJ playing on some early hard-rock/heavy-metal recordings, including songs HE HIMSELF wrote!!

In other news, Carol Kaye claims that SHE actually wrote "The Trooper", and was the Bassist on the original version...

Being dead, no, but I'm sure he'd have better things to do with his time.

I think Larry Graham wrote "Walk" by Pantera, and Jaco was a founding member of Cannibal Corpse!!!!!!!!!!

BrandonBass-we apologize for highjacking this thread and flaming the crap out of it, it really is a moot point you bring up, and just to be sure, James Jamerson did pass away quite a long time ago. I suggest picking up "Standing in the Shadows Of Motown" on DVD and getting the instructional book by the same name. You will see the light!!!! And for the record, Steve Harris was one of the reasons I started playing the bass many many years ago.

Makes total sense to me, some of his posts do a great job at killing people's brain cells.

Oh, I get it, it's the typical "bassist legend X sucks/sucked because he/she doesn't/didn't pump out 16th notes as fast as he could" routine.

Well to be fair, most kids have so little sense of history that I'm actually surprised when one even knows who James Jamerson is. Of course, his sense of history is flawed because he doesn't seem to get that Jamerson was one of the people who invented electric bass playing and people today still use what he did as a guideline to what they do, one finger or not. Much like kids today think Flea invented slapping and totally disregard Larry Graham. I blame MTV.

+1 I am also willing to give him credit on knowing who he is as well, not sure why or how he missed the fact that he has been dead for a while, but more power to him, hope he learns as much as he can about people like Jamerson, sounds like he in sincere, although I have noticed here at talkbass, sometimes being sincere about what some know to be common knowledge will get you flammed. I AM still curious about BrandonBass fetish for killing, since it is in his profile Heck, maybe I should not go there.

Bah...real killers don't brag about liking it. Real killers do it in secret so they can continue doing it. He's a poser.

Imagine my surprise seeing Mark Hoppus listed in the bass credits for "What's Going On"!

This kind of reminds me of a time four or five years ago, when I was in a local music shop. These two kids, each maybe 14 or 15, were wanking on some guitars, when suddenly one goes to the other: "Dude, oh my god, I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan is DEAD!" And the other is like: "Holy sh*t, NO WAY"

I guess everyone has to find out some time.

Peace
