In opening id like to say haev you checked google , it would help clear alot up but ill tell you all I know. The bands were the same lineups for the most part (give or take a few members) one band had more of a rock sound and the other a funkier sound. Bootsy played bass pretty much the whole time. George did sing and lead for both bands. They had many different albums by parliament and funkedelic separt. Thats abotu all I can think of now. I need to get some of their recordings , Ive never really listened to them acually , just a song or two. (Im only 15 give me a break lol)

They started as a doo wop band called the parliaments, who were five singers (Clinton included) and their backing band. The name had to be dropped because of legal issues with their label, and Billy Nelson (Bass) and Eddie Hazel (Guitar) came up with the name Funkadelic. Later the dispute with their label was resolved and they became Parliament and Funkadelic. The basic group of musicians recorded material which could end up on either bands recordings.

The main bassists are: Billy Nelson, Bootsy Collins, Cordell Mosson, Skeet Curtis and Lige Curry

Try wikipedia (.org) for more information. Bass Player did a cover story in July '04 worth checking out. Also search youtube or google video for any of the bassists i mentioned or: P-funk, P-funk allstars etc.
Also go to: www.georgeclinton.com For the official site

Hope this helps
