Pino Palladino with John Mayer

are these flats or round strings ?
and ... is it an Ampeg in the back?

Hi Paolo,
That is Pino's old P-bass strung with Thomastik Jazz flatwounds. He also used to use heavier labella flatwounds and tune down a whole step (D,G,C,F). He's using Ashdown Amps.

As for the tone? It's in the hands my man...

I really like great bassist that build up the bassline bottom up:first paly simple, with economy and add what the songs require.....

Pino is one of my absolute favorite bassists. His lines, tone and technique are second to none. Always playing what the music needs while adding his signature to it. Just a genius..
