When I saw him play with Joe Bonamassa last he was using ESP basses.

I wondered the same. He plays ESP, and his sig First Act, but that red one still confuses me.

I think that's an Xotic bass.

It's an Xotic.
They make killer effects--tried one of their basses at Namm but only for a minute. But I use the Tri-Logic outboard pre all the time---I believe it's the same electronics found in that bass which are awesome!

Thumbs up Carmine's new bass

I went to Joe Bonamassa's concert last night at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa and it looked to me that Carmine was playing a new sunburst Ernie Ball Musicman Big Al 5 string that was just smokin tones with big thunderous low notes that rocked the songs! what an incedible rhythm section Joe has to compliment his talent...WOW!

I didn't know Xotic was still making basses!!!!
I played a used on in Nashville years ago and it flat out killed.
If I only had the money back then I would have bought it and never looked back.

Gonna hit them up for some pricing!

Getting in on this a bit late, obviously -- but Xotic is indeed still making basses -- great ones. Carmine's is a model XB-2, cabernet red, with a "Hiro" Burst -- custom job, obviously.
He used it Saturday night at the Beacon Theatre in NYC in Joe B's show (along with a 4-string, natural-wood mate) -- I'd order one in a New York minute if I could afford it.
