Just saw Catherine Popper with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on what turned out to be one of the greatest and worst nights of my life.

On the good side of the story, this was one of the greatest live shows I've ever seen. Gary Clark Jr. opened for Grace Potter and he and his band were incredible. They played an awesome show at an awesome venue. And after the concert they drove a couple blocks down to my favorite local bar and played for another two hours. Talk about once in a lifetime chance!! They were all great guys and were happy to hang out and b.s. all night. Not to mention they have a crap load of awesome tunes and really lay it down live.

Grace Potter was incredible. Her band is soooo talented. I've been following her bass player, Catherine Popper, for a long time and she's been my bass hero for some time now. I met her briefly before the show and got a picture and she was as nice as could be. She played her ass off during the show. I stood right in front of her the whole night and my jaw was on the floor the whole time. She's an incredible player. I can't say enough about her. Tone, feel, groove, licks, and she is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Lol. She's got it all. You guys need to check her out. She's got a really old school r&b, indie, roots playing style. And she's a killer upright player. She plays everything!! Check out a tune called the Low Road for a killer bass performance.

And now for the bad part of the story. As I mentioned we went to a local bar after the concert and watched Gary Clark play. And I don't remember any of it. Apparently some scumbag was spiking people's drinks that night and I ended up getting roofeed..... I've been sick for three days and finally went to the doctor and was tested and they found rohypnol in my system. So one of the greatest times I've ever had was ruined. Not to mention.... Grace Potter and her band showed up at the bar too. Catherine Popper was there and my friends said I talked to her several times. So on the night that I got to meet my bass idol I made a complete ass of myself because of some shitbag trying to screw over some young girls....... be careful at the bars guys..... Their are still scumbags on the loose.

But on the bright side!! I remember the Grace Potter show and got to see Catherine Popper tear it up. Check her out guys. She's awesome!!

This woman is adept at pocket playing. +1 OP. I'd like to get the details of her P Bass I saw/heard on Artists Den last night.

Her site says she plays a 66 and a 67 P. I've seen her use Ashdown and Ampeg amplification but not much else. TTT for Catherine. She's incredible.

I have to agree with you, I saw the Nocturnals at the harmony festival in Santa Rosa CA on Saturday. Great great band with a great bass player.
Sorry to hear your night ended badly, lots of scumbags out there.

Out of all the modern female artists, Grace Potter stands head and shoulders above all but maybe Adele. The Nocturnals are all good musicians. Thank God that not every chick is out to sing the next hit break up song with auto tune all over her voice. I hope they stick around a good while.

She's definitely talented and she's got a killer band behind her. If you ever get a chance to them live you should definitely go. They better live than on record. So much energy in the music. They are killer on stage.
