So that who played on 'meet virginia'. That line is so much fun to play.
Never would have guessed it was a hollow body with flats. I thought it was a P with rounds.

That very well may have been the case. Live though, he used that orange Gretsch.

I just have to add...

The bass line in Whipping Boy is a work of pure genius! I've been trying to learn it, but it's not an easy line for sure!

Bass Player mag did write-ups on him for each release (well, the first two anyways). IIRC first one was an old single coil era P-bass, second album was an old Gibson Les Paul Signature. I'll look it up and correct my post when I have the time.

Don't know...just chiming in to say I too really like the guys work. My GF loves the hell out of that band. The whole music/songs in general don't hit me as good as it hits her, but it still certainly is good and I like listening to the bass work whenever she turns them up (they're one of the ones that get turned up for her). I like it for a lot of the same reasons others have. Playing melodic lines without losing the support under the band, doing other more "unconventional" things, playing between or off beat, hanging on a passing tone, etc. Some of it may come from the guitar side, but, good stuff none-the-less.

Agreed! I started listening to them after the wife added 'Meet Virginia' and 'Drops of Jupiter' to her daily playlists and I dug what was going on underneath it all.

No clue on basses and FX, but I'm sure a lot of it is in his hands.
