Sure, bro. Nico is the guy who inspired Patitucci's style and one of a few players that Jaco really respected.

When I was 19 (35 now), I was playing a gig with a singer and right before we started the set I saw Nico sitting in one of the tables. I completely freaked out! After the show he talked to me and gave me lots of very good advice. He then invited me and the keyboard player to sit down and have some food in the restaurant downstairs. We became friends, and he helped me out a lot. Great guy. He once introduced me to Pat Metheny, good times...

He has a very good book on improvisation, unfortunatelly I think it is only available in portuguese. http://www.submarino.com.br/books_pr...7&franq=134562

THREAD REVIVAL - I've heard Mr. Assumpcao on many Brazilian records over the years, but only now have seen him on YouTube...Wow! Chops, taste, feel, creativity...the entire package, and a true master. Sorry to learn he has passed away...

I have some of guitarist Ricardo Silveri albums (late '70s/early '80s)...yeah, Nico was like a mix of Stanley & Jaco.

Yes on that work with Joao Bosco. I have a complilation of Bosco stuff from the mid-'80's, with no attribution of supporting musicians...once I saw Nico with Bosco on youtube, it all came together, as the bass playing on that compilation is some of my favorite stuff of all time, and it's definitely Nico's playing.
