Chris Stillwell's Fried Grease bass line (Greyboy Allstars)

I am really digging his bass line and how it plays off the beat.

Does anyone know who inspired this sort of playing or of recordings that use similar lines?

PS - Sorry if this is not the right forum, am still sort of new here.

Check out Rocco Prestia with Tower of Power or Paul Jackson with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters for a start.

I have been listening to the Headhunters, will look into Tower of Power. Any specifc songs come to mind?
