Chris Wolstenholme on MTV VMA's..Status!

Anybody see MUSE on the MTV music awards tonight? Can't believe he pulled out the 80's looking Status bass although didn't matter he and the band sounded great. Personally, I think the Status Headless bass looked kind of dorky on him and for the style of music they play. I really like the new Muse material though. Chris Wolstenholme has an amazing bass sound but I don't know if the bass sound was all him or also the guy playing the synth behind him.

It mostly was Chris, but yeah, I can understand why you would think it was the synth guy. BTW, so pissed MTV showed like 2 seconds of starlight

So you guys were honestly expecting it to sound bad? I hate to break it to you but there's no thing such as a bad-sounding Status bass.

the synth guy is Morgan Nichols, right?
it might have been his bass- he used a Status with the Senseless things, Vent414, The streets etc.

Never saw him using the status but agree his playing would sound good on most anything. He's a beast.

Muse new album = not so much. Absolution was their high water mark I reckon....

Back on topic, yes i did see them (I even had a free ticket to that concert) and it sucks that they cut out starlight. Basically MTV realized that the reality-show-to-music ratio was balancing out, so they pulled the plug.

Actually, Morgan is off spending time with his family (Wife just had a kid). The Keys player was Alessandro Cortini for the VMA show. Alessandro used to play for NIN.

There are two other tracks, USoE and Resistance on MTV.com right now.

The guitar player in one of my bands is a big Muse fan and wanted me to listen to the new album even though he doesn't think or the one before it are as good as their early stuff.

I'm not really a Muse fan, but they are talented cats. But even more than the early albums, listening to this new record it REALLY sounds like the soundtrack to a rock musical.

Yeah, I likenned the last two MUSE records as an attempt to bridge the gap between the Who's Quadrophenia and Queen's News of the World. Very concept album / rock opera.
