MMW just came to town. Great show!! Anyone got any idea what Chris Wood is using for gear, especially his amps? I understand he's got numerous basses. But yeah, his gear, who knows what he's using?

This tour specifically I'm unsure... but in the recent past he's used an SVT with 810 and a B15 fliptop. I've got old footage that has him (with long hair) playing a stingray through SWR stuff.

Saw him two nights ago in Raleigh. One of my absolute favorite bassists. His electrics are an old (maybe'64) P-bass and a Hofner violin bass. His upright rig is an ampeg flip-top (that's a B-15, right?) into an ampeg cab that looks to hold a 15. The electric rig is an old SVT into an Eden 4x10.

Seeing Chris and MMW back in '98 inspired me to persue the double bass. Ive never seen him use anything but an old SVT/SWR 410 and a 70s B-15N but I havent seen the band live in several years.

According to MMW.net it's a '66 Precision, '65 Jazz, early '70s Hofner. I can't recall what all the amps were, but I remember the fliptop.

He probably sometimes uses whatever backline is supplied, but in a recent Jazz Times article his gear list was: 63 P-bass/Hofner Club bass/ 60's B-18/ 70's B-15.

Great player!

I've seen a lot of videos where I figured he was playing the backline rigs for the venue. Thanks, just trying to figure out his main supply.
