I was kind of unsure about joining in or not, but now I'm going for it. First practice tomorrow night ,playing in front of congregation first time on sunday.
I figure as long as my heart is in the right place, it will all be good.

There are two worship teams at my church and we alternate weeks. If I can't be there for one Sunday, that makes it 3 weeks without playing.
However, if the other bassist can make it, I'm 3 weeks on.

This thread has exploded (Praise God!) & we've all got our numbers, so what now?
Would there be any chance in us getting a forum of our own alongside Bassists & Technique etc.?
If so, should it be more open, such as just "Worship Bass" & throw it open to all faiths, of course we still keep the CBPW Club as it is.
I know certain of the moderators will be heavily against this idea from messages I have had removed on other threads but I think it is a subject big enough to warrant a forum of its own but within the Talkbass community, not a separate site.
Blessings,
Russell |

Some members here at Talkbass had a thread about it, and I ended up checking it out. It was small to start with, but with all of us here, we sure could fill it up! Im going to search for the site and post it back here.
EDIT: found the site through Embellishers profile http://worshipbass.jivesound.com/index.php

I have been doing this for about 14 years now and hopefully I can continue. I am now an Associate Pastor but I still play every Sunday. I see myself playing still even when I become Senior Pastor. I love the bass and can not see a day when I am not playing.

Sorry no pics. I'vd been associated with the music ministry in several churches for about 4 years. I currently play in the service band at Church. We do both traditional hymns as well as modern worship form the likes of Chris Tomlin, Paul Baloche, Matt Redman, etc...
Number please?

I play with this band: www.thesingingcompany.com - we take old hymns that were written in the early 1900s in the Salvation Army and update the melodies...we've more recently started doing more original praise and worship songs. we have a new album coming out in june - check my signature for samples! |

A few posters have asked about music. I have about 10mb of webspace that just hold pics and garbage. Would it be worthwhile to set up a database of lead sheets? Since most, if not all, of our worship music is freely distributed.

My band recorded ourselves doing a couple of our songs tonight... first time I have heard myself playing bass... Was not bad for a spur of the moment, not mixed or mic'd recording, just through a digital recorder sitting on the work bench... balances are way off, and the guitarist had a bad cold, so the vocals are bad, spotty or non-existent... Still, I was impressed (not hard to do).... It is like, proof I am in a band...
We did Here With Me, I Need You, 40 by U2, and a bluesy original written by the drummer...
Gollygeewhiz I love playin' bass!!

The worship leader in my church is always looking for new music.
