(Literally, I will be assigning member#s)

Tell us about your ministy, about how long you've been in it, about what kind of music you do, are you more praisey, more preachy, a little of both, are your lyrics real literal, or more symbolic, more overt, or more vague. Share any pics, flix, or sound clips you have.

The bible calls us to be united as the body of Christ, and what better way for people who are a) Christian b) Bassists, and c) giving some degree (anywhere from a little bit, to everything they have) of their lives to music ministry, music to reach the lost and encourage the found, to unite than to have a club?!

We had music practice last night. We were working on a Hillsong number "Desert Song" by Brooke Fraser...what a gorgeous voice she has...
anyway...we practiced it...switched musicians...went through it a bit more and then we just went OFF!!...everyone took turns as the Spirit hit them to sing out, prophesy, clap, dance...you name it...
this went on for nearly an HOUR! it was AWESOME!

I'm tellin' you folks...somethin' is happening...and it's EXCITING!

Thank you
Scripturally, there are a vast multitude of verses and passages that talk about worship. Here are a few:

Psalm 150
Psalm 100
Really.. about 2/3 of the Psalms are either praises of God, or have instruction on worshipping God.
Isaiah 6:1-7
Micah 6:6-8
John 4:19-24

As for books, several great titles have been mentioned.
Ancient Modern Worship - Martin Thielen
Praise Habit - David Crowder
5 things Every Christian Needs to Grow - RC Sproul

I feel you Pilbara. What's happening is the Earth is waiting for the K.O.G. to take over!

I'm a bass player in a band, but not a praise band (typical cover band).

For some reason though, when I write music, the only thing I can write is praise! I wake up in the middle of the night with a song (lyrics included) in my head.

The good Lord knows I'm not a model citizen but I like to view writing Christian music as time not spent on worse things.

Can I get a number (even if I play the occasional AC/DC song) then?

Bro you don't need to be a model citizen for God to use you. I mean maybe he's trying to draw you closer to Him. I mean most of the people that God used mightly in the Bible had serious flaws (especially in the old testament). But I believe God used them to show that no matter how far you've gone God can still use you if you yield to Him. If He's waking you up in the middle of the night...he wants to talk to you.

Not religious...that's good. The reason you're feelin' what we're talkin' about is because we're talking about relationship with God. Religion is a search for God...and he's not lost. LOL.
I feel where you're coming from Fetusyolk. I'm not religious either. I just love sharing God. Even more than I love playing bass!

I guess it's about time I jumped in as part of this club and say hello to my low-life bros.

I'm a Christian bassist serving at Rock Harbor in OC CA. We have a bunch of great worship leaders including Todd Proctor and Pete Shambrook and a lot of very good musicians. It's a great Church to play worship as the music is LOUD rockin.

I also play in Union of Saints. We play Christian rock in secular venues generally opening for national/international touring talent. I feel that's where I'm really serving God as we bring His word out of the Church.

That's cool EAS! I used to play in a Jazz group that did that back when I was in college. Those were fun times.

Thread #3, very cool! Enjoying the conversation here. Only a backup bass player at my church so I look for ways to keep my chops up. Primary instrument is elec and acoustic guitar.

It's wierd. It's like he's trying to save me despite myself. I'm rolling with it. I actually understood the whole message in a sermon last Sunday.

If he's pickin a canvas, hopefully he knows how ratty and stained this one is!

You can't be more ratty than Saul was before he became Paul. And he couldn't even play bass. LOL

All of us are stained or ratty in one way or the other. That's what makes us need a saviour. If we weren't then we would never realize how much we need God in our lives. He's the only one who can clean us up. No amount of 12 step programs, clinics, therapy, or antidepressants could ever come close to the blood of Jesus. It's the only bleach for sin stains.

I heard this over the weekend.
Jesus cleans the fish after he catches them.
Too many people think they need to "get cleaned up" before coming to Christ. Trust me, it is far easier to do that after you have the Lord in your heart and the Holy Spirit lending you a hand.
