This is horrible news. I wish Chuck Rainey a speedy recovery and all the best.

There was just a posting on his Facebook page. Fortunately, it looks like the prognosis is for a full recovery.

Beyond being a terrific and influential bass player, Chuck is a wonderful guy. I had a chance to learn from him at Victor Wooten's bass camp last year. Great great guy. Lets all hope for a speedy recovery.

I was devastated to hear the news. Chuck is one of the most warm, sincere and charismatic human beings I have had the privilege to meet. Thoughts and prayers are with him and with his family.
