Clatter?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just ran across videos from a duo called Clatter. Just a young guy on a drum kit and a girl on bass. I think you guys should see this! Sorry I don't have the link, but just go to Youtube.

Not to bash your discovery of what I agree is a very cool musical discovery as well as not insulting my friends Amy and Joe, but a) they're hardly a "young guy... and girl" - they've been working steadily in the music business releasing demos, EPs and albums since the mid-'90s in various formats of the band (a 4-piece as "Clatter Bean", a 3-piece with a guitarist, and finally their current form, and b) they've released two self-released albums in their current "2-piece Bass and Drums" format as well as an highly recommended pro-shot DVD entitled "Blinded In Boonville" - pick that up (or either of their CDs) to see them and their music in total quality as oppose to YouTube clips.

Clatter is awesome!
Amy and Joe are talented musicians and all-around good people.
I highly recommend that you get their CDs "Blinded By Vision" and "Monarch" and the concert DVD "Blinded In Boonesville", great stuff.

Basshappi = shameless Clatter fanboy

Clatter are pushing the boundries of what a band needs to be.
I love Amy's non conformist method of playing and Joe is such a tight player!
Amy is one of the folks who got me into the Waterstone 12 string basses. (I have the other white one that was made.)
We did an album swap a while back (I sent them mine and they sent me theirs) and some Clatter tracks permanently live on my MP3 player.

just stumbled across them myself. i dig her use of the fake nails as i also attempted to grow mine out to use as picks and ripped em off (ow). I just may give that a go - (although i may look a tad silly). Also another reason to buy a 12 string bass.

Since Blinded by Vision they made a second album (Monarch) and a killer DVD (Blinded in Boonville).
There is a 3rd album in the making apparently.

I use 2 amps simultaneously: one for clean signal and the other for effects.

I got the idea from Amy's insructiuonal videos and this photo of her gigantic rig:
