(Also) not in a band at the moment.....just playing some local jams.....but looking for a band but nothing happening on CL
All short scale basses (Landing, Hofner, Fast Bass, Fish Bass, Warwick), looking for a 5 string fretless shortscale (not too many of those around) so I'll have to get an Ibby long scale fretless I guess......GK amps, MarkBass, AudioKinesis cabs, Schroeder Cabs, lots of pedals, etc.....

Lets bring this up during the next election debate & see which politicians agree.

| | | Greetings from Montreal, Quebec!
I'm glad to see some canadians in here... it makes me so sad when I want to buy something from the TB classifieds that only ships CONUS.
Anyways, oldschool player here. I mainly use my 1982' Fullerton Fender Precision (RI62) strung with big, old flats. I also have a Jetglo Rickenbacker 4003, from 2004 and a 1971 Gibson EB-3.

If the drive isn't too far out of your way, do a little research and you might discover a parcel receiving company just inside the border crossing.
We have a few of those shops between BC and Washington state. Your instrument will be shipped there. They would receive it & hold for your pickup. You'd have to pay a small fee when you pick it up. (I have to pay a whopping $3.50.) I have used that company to purchase instruments a number of times without any incidents.
It's also a way of getting around company policies like Fender/Music Man that do not permit a US dealer to sell and ship to Canada.
And yes, I do declare the instrument when I cross back into BC. One time they let me go, (on my birthday). Other times I just had to pay the HST/GST.

Hasn't been many and I've done the leg work for them as far as arranging shipping and confirming costs etc. We have one of those shipping addresses available at the border for some work items but for a 2 hour drive each way it doesn't pay for me to go on small items.
Worth it for a larger dollar item if I can't strike a deal with the seller.
