Colin Hodgkinson at his best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mavu1RvKJAM
If you haven't discovered him yet, this guy was around at the same time as Stanley and Jaco but doing blues bass in the UK instead with the Backdoor Blues Band.
He's finally getting recognition as being one of the most unrecognised bass guitarists in the world.

He is just an amazing player. He's done a lot of sessions through the years (I think he's on Mick Jagger's first solo album for instance) and tours regularly with a British Blues 'all-stars' type band featuring a revolving line-up of Maggie Bell, Peter Green, Tony McPhee etc.
I've only ever tracked down one Back Door LP (Eighth Street Nites) - last time I checked for reissues and the likes I couldn't find anything, although they did reform for one album maybe 5 or 6 years ago. I can't even find a copy of that! Nobody that good should be that obscure ... |

Both I guess are similar to Nathan Watts in terms of how their playing hasn't really recieved the recognition it deserved. |

There was an American indie band called Morphine during the 90's who drew a lot of their sound from Backdoor, intentionally or unintentionally I can't say. |

| | | | You can also get their last and arguably (joint) best album at cultural foundation too.
Slivadiv ain't funky!?
Have you got the reissue CD with the tracks mixed up?
Also they should be available at amazon, usually.(first 2 and the radio one),
