They're fine basses, just not particularly striking in the looks dept. One of the local shops that I frequent can't really sell them. They just languish on the wall, but the Fenders and Gibson shoot right out the door. Interestingly, the Artcore guitars sell very well, just not the Ibby basses.

(I hope it's the latter)

Does anyone know any popular bassists who swear by them?
Look up a pro by the name of Gerald Veasley. He only played with folks like
Grover Washington Jr. And the Joe Zawinal Syndicate.

Agreed. I just really don't like the way they look. Also, seems like most of their higher end basses are active, which is another turn off for me.

Don't forget that most of the journeyman pros that work tours, breathe different air than the stars that they're backing up.

A guy like Sting never never has to worry about losing a gig 'cause the chick singer thinks his bass isn't cool, or doesn't like the color.

The right clothes, the right hair, the right rig, the right attitude and the right array of basses, are all part of a touring pro's toolkit. If they can get comfortable with a nice, safe custom shop Fender (or a high-end clone), why try to push water uphill by carrying an Ibanez SR?

Kinda funny that this thread was right after one about Stephen 'Thundercat' Bruner.

Sam Rivers is a Warwick Guy... and to my knowledge had been for most-all of their popularity... However, Wes Borland (LB Original Guitarist) was an Ibby Man.

I opened for Trombone Shorty a while back, and Mike Ballard was playing a blue one that night. I've seen him playing a Steinberger more recently though.

Has anyone mentioned Doug Wimbish?

The older I get, the less I care about who plays a bass like the one I have. I have sense to know if a bass works for me or not, and I have sense enough to know that a bass that works for someone else may not work at all for me.

Ibanez makes a whole lot of basses, and most of them are much better built that most bassists give them credit for producing.
