Anyone like them?

For whatever reason, I've been very drawn to their SST stuff. Specifically 'Huevos' and 'Up On The Sun'.

Anyone know what sorts of gear Cris used through the years? Other than Fender P and J's, I don't know.

Cool band. Different.

I posted a thread recently about The Puppets & Cris Kirkwood- not too many around here seem to know.

The new album Sewn Together is very good all the way through- original drummer Derrick Bostrom is gone...

Cris is a P bass guy, and is currently using a James Knopf (Phoenix luthier/repairman) custom P bass w/ EMG's, Badass bridge, and maple neck. He is also using GK amps & cabs...

There's a video on the Rykodisc reissue of Up on the Sun where Cris is playing a Steinberger.

I've been getting really into them lately. I only have II and Up on the Sun but they are excellent.
I just saw them about a month ago too.

I'm a huge fan. I posted a thread in '07 after seeing one of their first shows after reuniting--it was a thrill to see them again, especially to see Cris playing after his long absence. I've seen them twice more since, and they're just getting better and better. I first saw them in the late '80s after Huevos came out (I interviewed Bostrom for the school paper) and they were mind-blowingly good. The two recent albums are absolutely legitimate to my ears, I'm glad to see they're still producing quality stuff rather than just relying on the old tunes.

He did rock the Steinberger for a while in the mid/late '80s. Other than that, I've only seen him play Ps and PJs.

I saw them open for Stone Temple Pilots on Tuesday, and Cris was playing through an Ampeg SVT-810 rig...

I saw them several times in the 80's and always loved them. Sadly I haven't heard any of their more recent work.

And here I thought Cris was dead!

And...they're touring with STP again? Don't they remember what happened last time? Or did all the crack blank that memory out?

My bro Shandon Sahm is drumming for the Meat Puppets on the East Coast run of the STP tour. Having a blast!

Sewn Together is one of the best albums of the year

i've seen them twice (once last year opening for Buillt to Spill and this year headlining) and they rocked. Seeing them again in Nov.

I just caught them at the Visulite in Charlotte earlier this week. Awesome show. Cris has aged, due to his recent past, but he was back in the saddle. Curt was in his usual unstoppable form wailing away on his axe. Shandon put on one hell of a show. That guy was nasty on the skins. I'm so glad I was able to catch the Brothers Meat again. Best $15 I've spent in a while!
