Here's Dane pumping out a solo on his yamaha TRB with octave pedal.

Ive seen him in a live setting on several occasions and he is one of the most incredible players I've ever heard.

This second clip is from an appearance on US TV when Dane's band 'VOID' toured the US in early 2007?

Yeah, Dane rock's
Had a random drunken conversation with him a few weeks ago, only later did I realise it was him though.

Thumbs up

Dane is THE best bassist i have ever heard. Truly a world class performer, and a top notch bloke to boot.

I saw him play back in '02, and after seeing him play (told this story so many times...) my choices were...
1. give up the bass and get into model trains, or bird watching.
2. get a little more serious about my music.

The following year, i went back to (music) school. So literally, his playing altered what i did with my life. And i'm not ashamed of being a Dane groupie.

With enourmous respect, he has little idea about gear, and all the things the rest of us spend hours debating here at TB, but knows all about tone...if you know what i mean. And he keeps getting better.

A true bass hero.
Please check him out, his band is called Void.

(the rest of the band, complete monsters, and also really top guys)

I first saw his playing on the James Morrison Still Dangerous DVD, and he was awesome.

When I saw Herbie Hancock in Perth last year, a few of my more muso mates pointed out Dane Alderson talking to some people after the show, but I didn't know who he was then.

We share the same first name, it's weird talking about someone with the same name as you, probably because it's not that common a name...

Dane is a GREAT player. My friend from Perth, Lex Sadler introduced me to him last year. Glad to hear that more people are becoming aware of Dane's playing.

Dane is too good. Probably my favorite contemporary bassist. His playing style is just so rounded and his note choices always sound perfect. Supposed he has a solo album coming out this year....can't wait.

Only just discovered this musical monster through a friend's facebook post. Wow. It's so nice to see a bass player with a musical voice as advanced as Dane's. He has truly developed his own sound. IMO his abilities are above any other contemporary bass player (except probably Hadrien) and it's something seriously inspirational.
