I used to think that he totally played his butt off~ but I was only four years old at the time.

I was really surprised that he never got into another band after the Partridge Family.

It must have been his awesome strumming technique.

His technique's so efficient that at times his left hand seems barely to be moving...

He should have been more expressive in his playing ~ he was holding back too much. He should have cut loose a little more and done some slapping or maybe some fast Billy Sheehan type playing.

Upon learning that a Partridge Family single had edged ahead of a Beatles' single...

Bonaduce-
"We're bigger than The Beatles...meaning I'm bigger than Paul McCartney"!

Cassidy-
"Oh, yeah. Well, you don't strum a bass...YOU WERE STRUMMING"!!!

The 'real' creator of 'slap' bass! I believe he called it 'spank' bass though, IIRC! Larry who??

Too bad he grew up to be the man he is now.

Can't get enough of those Boyce & Heart songs though; wonder if those guys made any money?

There's a strap on there. It just goes to the headstock. Old School.

yeah the old fender back of headstock strap button...very peter paul & mary. Or very Mamas & papas. Cant really see larry graham or vic wooten play that way. They're just not cool enough.

edit: all fenders had those, even p's and j's.

I was a big Partridge Family fan when I was a kid. I think I was like 7 or 8 when the show was on prime time TV. Believe it or not back then Danny kinda made me want to play the bass. So I guess I credit him with my earliest inspiration to become a bass player. No joke. LOL.

I bet he inspired a lot of players want to play bass or music in general which is pretty cool. For me it was something (almost) equally dorky: Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. McFly was about as badass as one could be when i was 10.
