Danny Bonaduce Learning Bass!

Thought y'all might be interested in this. Today is my day off, and was watching the NBC10 (Philly) morning news. They were doing an interview with Dan, who is something of a fixture in the Philly area at the moment. He talked a bit about how the only member of the Partridge Family cast who could really play an instrument was David Cassidy, and joked a bit about his 'bass face' shenanigans for the show. Then he mentioned that he is actually now learning to play bass guitar for real. He's supposed to play it for a charity event of some sort (I think with David Cassidy, but I didn't catch the full interview so am not sure). He's enjoying it so much he's decided he's going to continue lessons. He said he's practicing about 3 to 4 hours a day, and also said his fingertips were hurting a LOT...heh. We'll see, I guess, if he follows through or not...

That's pretty funny but, hey, good for him. I had the channel 10 news and the Today show on this morning while I was getting ready for work but I missed that. Must have run while I was in the shower. I'll have to see if I can find that on NBC10's web site when I get home tonight.

I'm guessing this is why he's learning: Keswick Theater, 10/23. I live a lot closer to Philly than you do and I go to a lot of shows at the Keswick, so I'm on their mailing list. I saw that show announced not too long ago. I passed on tickets, but I did forward it to my sister.

Good point, but I'm sure he'll at least hit the level where Kansas wouldn't hesitate to dump their hack bass player in order to hire Bonaduce.

DISCLAIMER - I'm among the biggest Kansas fans you'll ever find. That comment was strictly for Jim's amusement since he rides me relentlessly about my Kansas fandom in the Song Uno threads in OT.

Watched Cassidy perform locally-a good show!

Danny learning bass? Guess, he's branching out from drums, or quit playing them...

I think it's pretty cool that he's learning to play. Love him or hate him he's something different from the average Joe.

Just in case you didn't know-
The Partidge Family had a #1 single which knocked The Beatles from the #1 spot. During a rehearsal, little Bonaduce tells Cassidy that they are bigger than The Beatles...as a result, he was bigger than Paul McCartney. Cassidy replied with something to the effect of "Oh yeah...well you don't strum a bass. You were stumming"!

I just want to see him break a bass over his knee...or head. Did he graduate or quit rehab? I miss his life on TV.

He was actually pretty cool about it - they showed some clips of him on the Partridge Family show, and he made fun of himself, playing 'air bass' and making 'bass faces' while he did so, and laughing about how silly it had been. His one complaint - which he sorta joked about - was that only Shirley Jones and David Cassidy actually played and/or sang on the actual recordings, so the rest of the cast never got any money out of the sales of the PF records & songs.
