He was pictured with Milt Hinton (?) in an old issue of Bass Player magazine with a white/maple NYC standard. I think he played one on "Voodoo Lounge" for a few tracks.
The tone on the video clip is about as atypical for a Sadowsky as you can get. Darryl doesn't normally play with that thin of a tone, either. There must have been an oddball tone setting or some sort of recording media glitch.

You can't get that thin of a tone from a Sadowsky without cutting out some lows somewhere in the chain. The flat setting on a Sadowsky is HUGE compared to the tone in that recording.

THAT sounds like a Sadowsky. Something's not right in the other recording.

I agree but the tone was compressed during the mixing of the music in that clip that is from a dvd recording. |
