I hope there's some albums in their future together as well!

From megadeth.com:

DAVE MUSTAINE
ANNOUNCES RETURN OF FOUNDING BASSIST DAVID ELLEFSON
TO MEGADETH LINE-UP

Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth’s upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.

"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness,” Mustaine says. “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"

David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."

Ellefson will join Mustaine and Megadeth band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group’s current CD Endgame, which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band’s career.

"We'd like to thank James LoMenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.

Awesome!

I'm a big fan of Lomenzo and Ellefson, so it's tough to say which I prefer, but still, nice to see the band making nice.

I really hope it was a mutual split with Lomenzo, since he had been talking about a White Lion reunion.

Otherwise it's kinda f'd up if Dave fired him

No Friggin Way! Ellefson contributed so much to them in the 80's and 90's - glad to see him back!

I had read an article a few months back and Ellefson told Mustaine he made a mistake leaving the band.

Now if only Newstead could return to Metallica...

YES! Life is good!

Now Cliff needs to come back from his vacation in Heaven (since he can't actually die) and re-join Metallica for a two bassist band of awesome!

I have been a 'deth fan for 25+ years, so I am glad to see the core of the band reunited. On the other hand, I had the pleasure of meeting James Lomenzo and he was a really nice guy as well as a kick ass bass player, so I am bummed for him. I hope he is doing OK and comes back with a vengeance.

The good thing is my son will get to see Dave and Jr. doing "Rust in Peace" in it's entirety next month.

As much as I love James Lomenzo, I think Ellefson is THE Megadeth bassist.

Please, take no offense to my opinion, but:

well i take a couple issues with this..

i like old megadeth (pre jesus era), and i liked ellefson on there.

but since then they have talked a LOT of crap. is all that suddenly forgiven? or is it all politics? i foresee issues there.

and this new guy just gets fired and thanked? weaksauce.

is ellefson going to have to learn a bunch of material he didnt write? id be a little annoyed with that, personally.

glad to hear he's back.. but its a pretty weird situation.

No disrespect to Lomenzo, but it's Megadeth. And Ellefson. He is as much Megadeth as Mustaine. I hope it lasts.

I'm just curious as to what exactly happened to Lomenzo.

I'm pretty happy about this, because I prefer Ellefson to Lomenzo, but if Lomenzo was fired just to make room for Ellefson to come back, that would be pretty lame.

i can't believe there are actually 2 bass players so hell-fired over a gig with megadeth that they'd fight over it. honestly, i couldn't be around dave mustaine for 5 minutes judging by what i've seen out of him. at one point they were all in therapy just so they could figure out how to deal with mustaine. and of course, metallica canned him for the same reason. life's too short to work with a-holes.

HI

I really liked the line up when Marty Friedman was on guitar. That was the band at its best
