Any tricks on how to come as close as possible to his tone on 'Peace Sells?' I have an Acoustic 100 watt and a Fender 15 to work with amp-wise. as far as Effects i have a Boss ME-50B. any help would be great

rumor has it, Mustaine plugged him into a GK head and handed him a pick. Ellefson is a really cool dude, find him online somehow (his website) and ask him... i'm sure he'll give you a very complete answer.

I recall him using Hartke for awhile in the mid 90's. The Jackson Concert bass played with a pick was definitely a big part of his sound.

Peavey site under endorsing artists should have some hint...

Probably much of this is in EQ and setup... and touch.

In his DVD lessons he says he favors diming all of the volume and tone controls on his basses to get as much output from the bass as he can and making adjustments at the amp. He plays Cirri these days usually. I pretty much can nail his tone with my USA Millennium and and the default SVT setting on my BAM 210. It's actually kind of a P bass tone with accentuated highs and high-mids. And yes, use a pick.

BTW - Junior was an endorsed B.C. Rich artist at the time of "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" I believe his axe of choice was something like this.

But who knows what he played in the studio.
