I'm always going to be a Dave Hope fan.

Here is an updated Immanuel Anglican Church link for Dave.

As I said in my previous post in this thread, I've been a fan of his since the old Kansas days in the 1970's. Wow. Just an amazing, aggressive, melodic, bass style. This stuff will live on forever.

It was a Furman pre and eq and two Crown DC300's and two EV B15 cabs for his live rig.

Good comparison. These days I like that style a lot better than the typical "groove monster" bass style.

Edit: Also: John Lodge

I was the guitar and violin tech for 4 years starting in Nov. 76 and Dave never used anything Marshall live or in the studio. Maybe what you saw was Kerry's guitar rig which was a Marshall next to Dave.

Would love to hear some tidbits from back then!

your probably right, that was 30 some years ago, though I cant recall seeing anything like an ampeg rig onstage unless it was off to the side or another piece of equipment was in the way.

Dave is a great player and a huge influence for me. I wasn't aware that he played on Somewhere to Elsewhere. That disc has some great playing.

Somebody who has more time than I do right now, look on YouTube and post some links to classic Dave Hope-era Kansas vids. Please.

Thanks, Gtender!

Kansas was huge among musicians back in the 70's, and current bassists need to check in and hear the Kansas classic recordings. The "Song for America" album needs to be downloaded and studied. Kansas had really hit their stride already.

As a bass teacher, that album is one I recommend for young players to play along with.
