I actually first met Dave back in the late 80's when he was the bassist for a New Jersey band called "Secret Lovers" Beyond the Palace - Google Books
Hey BP you should ask him if he remembers THOSE days!
They were actually a pretty good original pop/dance band.

The thing I most remember is that he said he actually owned a tux at one time to play weddings and bar mitzvahs. Must have been for that band. Nowadays I don't think he owns any clothing except a handful of ratty old t-shirts and some tennis outfits for tournaments

My father had a former student (he is a hs choir director) who was her keyboardist through that whole time and I remember many stories. I saw them play a few times (not with Dave LaRue, I can't remember who was playing bass for them). I remember her running around the place they were playing during a Jackson 5 tune, maybe ABC. |

Here's Scott's myspace: www.myspace.com/smonetti They did have another bassist, but I can't remember his name. He has long blonde hair, Bruce? I can't remember...

Great player and singer, no doubt. I recorded at demo at his studio once. Thankfully it is a long lost recording (because of the music; he did a great job with the junk we put on tape...). |

I saw Pat Travers a few years ago in Barrington, IL at a place called "The Penny Road Pub". Before he took the stage I was, of course inspecting the bass rig.
I knew instantly who the bass player was going to be just by seeing the neck holders and basses hanging on them.
It was Dave LaRue, and he tore it up!
Here's some old Pat Travers for ya'.....
