I was listening to one of my Santana cds last night, and this guy just plain smokes. Damn, is he ever a tasty bass player. He has the riffs to boot also. Always seems know exactly what to play to benefit the song. I'm sure if he went to solo he could rip it up.

I agree...those very early Santana albums oughta be in everyone's collection.

Brown did pass away awhile ago, right?

Brown died in the '80s, I think. I know the Abraxas Pool tribute album that came out five or six years ago had Alphonso Johnson on bass, not Brown.

Santana III probably has Brown's best work.
