Question DAVID BROWN HISTORY???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello bass community. Are there any bass historians out there that can elaborate on the bio and history of David Brown( Santana's awesome and overlooked bassist)??Wikipedia gives a short and scant description without even a photo. I know he died in 2000, but what about his history from Woodstock(where he clapped the band into Soul Sacrifice) till his death?? Thank you kindly in advance.

ps. I know he made a later appearance with Carlos on "Amigos", and I believe "Welcome".

Doesn't really help too much, but gives a little more info -

Doesn't mention his death, though!

I do remember reading something some years back, in which Carlos Santana referred to his departure. He said that he was sacked because of some kind of drug possession/conviction, etc.

Hope this helps a little?

He didn't play on "Welcome" despite the credit on the latest remaster, it's all Doug Rauch except for Carlos playing the bass on "Mother Africa" (says so on the original album). He rejoined Santana after Rauch left and played on "Borboletta" (1974) alongside Stanley Clarke.
