Dyson flat out kills it. He is a groove master. His tone was (is) is the quintessential MTD wenge tone, like his groove was shaped around the sound of his bass, I'd sure like to hear him play his skjold live.

his playing rocks, maybe a little too slapity slapity for me.

is that flat tone caused by the low fi recording or is that just what accugrooves sound like?

flash movies are extremely compressed audio and video wise.... youtube could NEVER be a true representation of how things really sounds IMO

Guys.... OK one more time.... when you hear a clip like that recorded 'live', it is highly unlikely that the backline rig EVER has anything to do with the sound. The bass tone for these types of performances (and live 'concert' sound) is almost always direct.

and tell me how the 'direct' tone equates into what obviously looks and sounds like an ameture video camera shoot. If the TV show is really shot THAT badly... I'd be shocked!

I'm with you on this James. There is no way that sound is accurately representing any of the equipment David is using.

It does sound horrible... which means it's a moot point...even if you are hearing the backline (which 99% of the time you aren't), it's not representative of anything.

Well, since there aren't any microphones in front of the cab....

I'm sure the original broadcast sounded fine whatever the source of the signal.

A little too trebly for my taste, but considering he's all thwackity-poppity, I'm guessing he wasn't going for a Jamerson-esque tone.

Listen to the Pieces of a Dream albums that Dyson is also a current member of, there's a song called "Dysons groove", his tone is impeccable on it. I'm sure that youtube recording is an amature video, the drums sound terrible.
