i've always loved that line as a great example of how to really balance between being too busy and just right. great player and instincts.

great find bubba!

That man kicks major butt, he always rips (in a good way) but in the acoustic versions he seems to compensate the lack of other instruments with busier lines, check this one out...

BTW he´s one of my favorites, and "Bigger than my body" changed the way i thought basslines "work" for certain songs.

Edit: The "video" is just the sound and a pic.

Palladino anxiety!!

Although they blend like beans & rice on the live in LA DVD. The best concert DVD I have right now. Both of those guys are so much fun to watch.

I'm just gonna be honest, I have a hard time watching any John Mayer performance without Pino Palladino; those two were just made for each other (musically.) Still, much respect for LaBruyere's chops.

I'm a longtime and big Pino fan, but I thought the Mayer/LaBruyere combo was really special, especially the more singer-songwriter material.

Anyone know when that was recorded? Mayer looks really young, and I'm assuming from the comments this was in the days before Pino joined Mayer???

Recorded July 1st 2008, and LaBruyere was not around much longer after that.
He's a killer player, and a lucky man IMO.
If you haven't seen this Film, you owe it to yourself as a musician.

+1

I worship Pino, but the interaction between Mayer/LaBruyere can inspire a brick to play bass...

I don't think LaBruyere actually left Mayer's band nor did Pino take over. Pino plays only with the John Mayer Trio and David plays in the full band, unless you guys know something I don't.

TO ALL YOU PINO LOVERS, the new Mayer album is going to be written and performed strictly by the TRIO. Watch this video and get excited.

Looks like Pino is playing his Moon J Bass there, although you do see the top horn of his P. Great clip, bring on the album.

Great clip - can't wait to see what they produce. There's something about Mayer that brings out the best in Pino (or is it Steve Jordan?)
