Dave Blood, bassist of the near-legendary and now-defunct indie punks the Dead Milkmen, passed away on March 10th. His sister Kathy posted the news on the Dead Milkmen message board, saying:
"My brother was a smart clever and talented person. Inner peace has seemed to elude him for the last many years. Sometime last night David chose to end his life. He left a note that I don't know all of what it said,he was not elaborate-but he said he just could not stand to go on any longer."
There will be a memorial service in the Delaware County area in the coming weeks; we'll bring you more news on that as we have it.
Our condolences go out to the friends, family, and fans of Dave Blood.
| I don't know how many people have ever heard of, let alone heard the Dead Milkmen. They weren't a spectacular band, but they were damn good, and there will never be another band like them http://www.punknews.org/article.php?...rder=0&thold=0

Genius.

This is really sad. The Milkmen were one of my favorites as a kid.
All the punks are crying today.
Cheers,
Chris

They said he had severe tendenitous that stopped him from playing and he never found anything else in his life to fill that void. It goes to show how much this means to some people out there.....RIP |

| | | Very sad.
IMO - The Dead Milkmen were one of the best acts in alternative music, back when there was alternative music. Back in high school my car was known as The Bitchin Camero by most of my friends (even though it wasn't a Camero ) ...and I think Punk Rock Girl should be required listening for every kid caught with a Blink 182 album (give them a fighting chance at knowing what punk is...)
Great band. ...and a bassist - one of our own. Sad. R.I.P. |
