That tweet seems awfully whiny. | I don't think he was serious. It shouldn't be taken seriously. |

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

For many years Guy Pratt has held high ranks within the realm of session bassist. Formative years saw him in Killing Joke before moving to Icehouse and Pink Floyd. Moving to LA he jammed with musicians that would make up Sheryl Crow's Tuesday night music club. While he may have missed the grade there he made up for with Madonna and Michael Jackson - who famously never reimbursed Pratt for his contribution to Earth Song. Around the same time Pratt veered his attentions towards acting performing on, co-writing and producing UK actor Jimmy Nail's Growing Up In Public album and acting in Randell and Hopkirk (deceased). Highly versatile he continues bass cameos on Tom Jones, The Orb and Natalie Imbruglia to name many.
| He used to post on here; he was always humble and appreciative of his fans. Sounds like he's grown a bit cynical.
Anyway, his book "My Bass and Other Animals" is a great read. He has some amazing stories from the road. |

| | | | Most of you seem to be missing the point..I do occasionally, such as now, appear on bass forums where I am obviously happy to answer relevant questions about bass, Floyd etc...It's just really annoying when people use twitter, which is not a bass forum, to ask the same old same old questions......And by the way, many thanks to those of you who offered supportive comments...Conversely, some of you are really nasty. What the **** have I ever done to you? |

Anyway, you were far and away one of the nicer semi pop star guys I ever met, played my bass, swapped a couple of gags, etc. Cheers! |

Your book is easily one on my top 5 favorite non-fiction books of all time - plus your playing isn't too shabby either!!!
Ignore any silly negativity - to many of us you are nothing short of an idol.

EDIT although he does seem to make fun of all the people who've ever given him a career break. except Pink Floyd. | Yep, I've seen him do a short set of stand-up - well, he doesn't call it that, I think he sees himself as more of a raconteur.
So, CLAIM-TO-FAME WITH MASSIVE SHAMELESS NAME-DROPPING ALERT:
He came and did a small, low-key sort of gig at this place where I singer hosted the comedy nights. To warm up the crowd she got us to come and be the "house band" as an opening and closing act. So we arranged before the show that before Mr Pratt came up and did his stand-up/raconteuring thing, we'd get up and do a song, except we'd pretend I'd "disappeared," and was there a bassist who could cover for me? Of course, Guy was going to get up and play with them.
In short: Guy Pratt has played my bass.
(And, as well as being absolutely excellent on it, he also said some very nice things about my bass playing. I'm amazed I could fit my head out the door after that.)

However, I think that someone in the entertainment industry could be a little more polite and grateful to his fans, who after all pay his bills. And if he doesn't like being asked questions on twitter, he can close the twitter account. Simple as that. |

| | | | Twitter offers you 140 characters..How many questions (especially relating to gear, playing etc..) can you answer in that few characters? My Twitter account, like most peoples, is for mind farts and general musings on current events. i don't ever ask people individual questions on twitter...is my point...I have an official Facebook page, where i answer questions to anyone who cares to ask.. And if you ask me something here I get alerted to it, although it seems to be mainly snide remarks about how I'm apparently not Roger Waters....Quite how I'm supposed to remedy that I have no idea...Especially as I haven't even played for Pink Floyd in 18 years... |

What's wrong with Sheryl Crow?
Love your playing Guy. I forgive you for not being Roger. |

But, alas, stupid people will be stupid.

Additionally, your "great disco basslines" video on YouToob cracks me up, constantly...good stuff. And, thanks in general for all the great basslines!!!
