I used to play in a Floyd tribute band; easy to cover the Waters stuff (he was a brilliant writer though), covering you from Pulse... not so easy.
Check out the web site... very impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_3Jc54k1Es ... Says it all
Maybe Americans don't quite get us Brits?

I'm also honoured to share this thread. |

Kevin Gilbert (RIP) and Patrick Leonard wrote some VERY impressive stuff (IMNSHO!) and on one CD the duo of Gilbert and Leonard skewered the industry righteously (The Shaming Of The True).
Thanks, Guy. Tasty stuff, there.

I read somewhere that Nick Mason said that when Guy started to contribute during those initial sessions that his playing tended to change the mood of the music (in a good, interesting way).
I always still enjoy that album.

You think you are sick of hearing "whats the best bass for metal" try getting those stupid questions for a couple decades before twitter even came around, I would probably have said the same thing.
So, now I have to sign up for twitter to ask Guy how cool was it on David's boat studio? haha

| | | | Well aren't you all nice...I just tweeted about it being annoying (and impossible in 140 characters..) to answer bass questions on twitter, and a couple of people posted pretty unpleasant snidey things about me on here. But as we all know, only **** bass players are nasty, so nothing to worry about!
Cheers to you all!
Happy to answer questions here, time permitting..

| | | | Guy, love your playing.
In the Floyd's live Pulse album, you have a great tone in "Another Brick in the Wall," especially when you slap during the guitar solo.
What bass did you use for that track, and I assume you used loads of compression?
Thanks for your response. |

For some folks, the social media is an extension of the marketing department, and you always have to ask if its "good marketing". Only if its superficial dribble is the right answer, I beleive.
Dont know about you Guy, but I'd getting too old to "dribble"; my body may be doing that all on its own in too short a time.
Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

xGuy | Hi Guy,
Firstly, I'd like to apologize if I offended you for starting this thread, is was certainly not my intention to insult/offend/be nasty to someone who I take alot of influence from and admire, I also just picked your book up yesterday, I can't wait to read it! Your irritation with questions on twitter is completely understandable and I'm definitely guilting for contributing to that. Sorry! Also, I had no idea you were even on talkbass.*I feel kinda dense for not knowing you had an official Facebook page, and who honestly gives a **** if you're not Roger Waters? Like I admire him too, but that's like comparing an apple that plays bass, and an orange that plays bass. Completely different!
I absolutely love the Toy Matinee album and your solo on Money, and pretty much anything else that uses an octave *if you don't mind answering questions here, I have one, I'm wondering what kind of tremolo you used on One of These Days on the Delicate Sound of Thunder album? Thanks! |
11-22-2012, 11:18 AM
| | | | Starting it was ok...Chuck Norriss not so much...
I can't remember what the tremolo was, it was a home made looking affair inside a Pete Cornish box! |

On 'Another Brick in the Wall' on the Pulse live album, did you use your Spector NS-2 running through a Demeter Compression pedal? |
11-23-2012, 03:05 AM
| | | | I didn't know about Demeters then, I first used them on David's tour..it was either just a Boss Bass Compressor or compression from the desk... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
