It's all you seem to see him with. You'd think he'd have picked up a sponsorship or two along the way, especially in his Weather Report days.

He was sponsored by Guild and Hartke, though he seems never to have used their gear on stage. I've seen a video of him with a custom bass but I've forgotten the make.
He also played the piano quite well. |

I seen him 8-9 times.
Always had the BOD, and a fretted brother.
Twice in the early 80's he had a blond fretted Jazz as a backup. |

Some other pics with different basses...
lol...

Did he ever play that at shows or on recordings? Was it tuned BtoG or EtoC? Anyone know the circumstances of how he came to play that particular bass? |

Rob Trujillo bought Jaco's bass? Why?

Now you do know BoD has been given a serious cosmetic uplift, right?

Otherwise, it makes sense that he would try more than 4 strings.
I wouldn't have thought Morch though...but nice choice.

Otherwise, it makes sense that he would try more than 4 strings. | ...for starters, there were not that many 5-string basses floating around in the '70s & early '80s.
That said, I'm sure he was a curious guy & would try anything once...I very vaguely recall an article where he said something like needing to relearn everything in order to make a move to a 5-string.
FWIW, Jamerson also tried a (Fender) 5-string bass...if you read SITSOM, you know how well that turned out.
