Yeah, his father was a professor at U of I in beautiful Cham-bana.

Allison Krause and her brother the bassist are from CU as well.

So is John Pennell, my old bass teacher that still writes alot of Alison's stuff...
I left Champaign, Urbana around 1990. There used to be a great scene there with Capt. Rat and the blind Rivets, Champaign, and Duke Tomatoe used to gig there a bunch. Unfortunately, IMO, the scene is dead now...

The best club there used to be Nature's Table... Donald Rafael Garrett, Coltrane's bassist/Bass clarinetist, used to teach in Champaign. Pete Bridgewater, Cecil's dad also gigged alot on 1st street.

there was a lot of history there...

"Her brother bassist?!"

Geez, the guy deserves way more respect than that, especially here at TB. Viktor is his name and he's a monster player. He's the band director for Lyle Lovett, has put out a couple solo albums and has played with many other artists.
Huge pocket and according to what Bill Frisell has said "monster chops."

Yeah, I know... His name didn't come to me when I was typing, and the phone was ringing...
