Digable Planets bassist circa 1994

I saw Digable Planets in the mid 90s and their bass player was out of this world. He did a ten minute solo that had everyone riveted! Does anyone know who he was? He seemed like sort of a small slim guy, African American, with bouncy, middle class dreads and I think he may have been playing a sunburst Fender jazz bass. Man, he really was de bomb.

yeah, i'm interested as well. They were funky and apparently they went to my alma mater (sp?): UMASS-Amherst!
