Damn, you got me all excited. In my opinion Alex was far superior to Dirk. I just don't dig Dirk's supporting role. For me Incubus is all about great bass and great guitar working together to create a groove, Dirk works towards the groove but he doesn't really contribute anything melodicly or rythmicly, he just underlines points already stated. Are You In is one of my favorite bass lines ever.

i think you're confused.

Dirk and Alex are the same person.
Alex/dirk wrote the bassline to "Are you in?"

Ben is the bassist you dont like as much. (right?)

There's a reason why women love us bass players. The tone is like Barry White's voice, and the strings are thick like Ron Jeremy's...well, you get the point.

Einziger said he and the rest of the band — frontman Brandon Boyd, bassist Ben Kenney, drummer José Pasillas and turntablist DJ Kilmore — can't wait to return to the road, and plan to do so this fall. Incubus have tentative plans for a brief club tour around the album's release date that will likely be followed by a more expansive run of theaters in 2007.

I like them both, dirk left because of creative differances. Would have been interesting though.
