Dirk Lance is playing live again!

Just so everyone knows, Alex Katunich is playing live again. If you're as priveledged as I am to live in the southern cali area, you get to see him.

I posted three clips of him playing a show two weeks ago. You can see them on my myspace profile under the videos section. www.myspace.com/seanahansen

He tells me he'll be playing again sometime in June. I plan to video tape the whole thing and get an audio feed too. I'll make sure to post everything so people in other areas get to see him too.

The video didnt work for me. Maybe took forever to load or whatnot... Who is it that he is playing with?

Thanks for the update on this guy. He is definately sweet at bass.

Yeah, what band? I'd like to go see him, back when Incubus still ruled (as opposed to SUCKING COMPLETE ASS like they do now) that dude smoked. Saw them live many a time.

He only plays locally with a band called Willie's Nerve Clinic. If you're in the LA area, you're in luck.

I agree about Incubus sucking hard nowadays.

From what I understand, Flea plays with local bands on a regular basis. Much respect for a richer still doing it for the love.

I know, right? But the fame thing just never changed him. He's just a regular guy. Maybe thats why he didn't get along with the rest of the dudes in Incubus. You know, cause they got all MTVed out. But that's just speculation on my part.

yea amen to that. Thanks for the Vids! It's good to see Dirk/Alex playing again. I miss the old Incubus

Hmm, yeah, Incubus' stuff was much better when Dirk was about but I don't know about their new stuff sucking. Ben Kenny is a decent bass player in his own right and I liked Crow Left of the Murder a lot more than I liked Make Yourself. To each his own I suppose, though S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Fungus Among Us kicked huge amounts of ass.

I didn't say he wasn't, just saying Kenny's a decent bassist that fits Incubus' new style.

I think its funny how just about every thread about Dirk turns into a "Dirk vs. Ben" thread. Why can't we just talk about how rad Alex is without comparing him to his replacement constantly?

Watch the love at red rock concert and you will be amazed (at least I was)
As much as I was bummed when Dirk left, Ben Kenny is such a different player, with smooth smooth basslines.
Ben Kenny is fantastic muscian, with a nice sexy lakland.

But I have no clue who Alex is.

But none the less, the current Incubus is no where near as innovative and out there as the old Incubus was and half of it is Ben Kenny's smooth, but ordinary bass playing. Dirk always seemed to be reaching for something way out there and was the key to what made Incubus...Incubus.

Which is why i'm so happy to see the guy out playing again

all i can say is that benny and dirk are completely different bass players. They come from completely different schools. They only thing, is that i consider dirk a more complete bass player. Since Ben has already proved that cannot play the basslines that Dirk did, i can pretty much imagine Dirk playing Ben's lines if he wanted. He migth not have all the musical culture Ben has...but i also can't imagine Ben playing jazz but playing R&B.

incubus are better than ever...i mean, science is a good album, but a crow left of the murder...whoa...but i spose im a bigger fan of ben..after all he is rnb and hip hop based....

we play drive in my band, during the verse i play the original line and during the chorus and solo i play ben kenneys line from the red rocks dvd....

i agree they've both brought different elements, but ben's definately made it more intelligent...for the record, ben doesnt want to play dirks lines, hes not that kinda of musician, he said that with the guys he likes to push them by changing things, just because dirk slapped like a fish out of water and ben doesnt doesnt make dirk a better bassist...i mean, not many people can do what bens done, at such a young age too, he's played both guitar and bass with the roots and now incubus with a whole lot in between..how many of us can do that, or have done that?...yeah, thats right...

also, was that thingy about dirk doing video game music true?
