does billy sheehan slap?

i saw some videos on guitar.com of billy sheehan and he plays some stuff that sounds slappy. is he actually slapping or is it just his amazingly cool bass?

He does some slapping nowadays.

He slaps in "The Crying Machine" for sure.

he doesn't like it much, if you look at his bass you'll see a large square pickup which blocks attempts at popping strings because of the nrrow space between it and the pickup, if he cared, he'd have it changed. he does it on the dvd of vai's live at the astoria in london, but it's for songs that were originally recorded with stu hamm.

he also does some slapping of his fingers on the fretboard, which gets some cool sounds and brings out harmonics. i remember seeing his instructional video back in the day and i was amazed...

But he also did it earlier on some Niacin stuff.
