Just came upon this quite recent performance on youtube, Pusher with the guy he's taking out on the road with him on drums, very tight.

I was there too! It was incredible. To quote Robert Fripp, 'Top of my head blew off'. Truly original, unique music.

I went back to see him the second time he was on, and some damn fool called 'Kool Keith' overran, so Mr Pusher wouldn't have played until about 3.30am. Actually I have nothing against Keith, he just sabotaged my evening.

I would have but I was fighting a losing battle against sleep.
Damn right about Squarepusher. It was like hearing a completely new genre of music.

I think his musical progression over the years has been pretty amazing. I love his Budhakan Microphone album soo much, and it was a real blast in the face from his earlier drill n bass and glitch stuff to this weird glitch jazz stuff. I was pretty into everything he was doing, but hadn't heard anyone ever combine it all together like that.

That's ridiculous...

I can't figure out why Squarepusher isn't mentioned in the ranks of the great technical bass masters like Wooten, Manring or Bailey. His stuff is every bit as over the top in terms of complexity as theirs, but he seems to actually make interesting music that stands on its own, rather than just being a fireworks display for musos.

This is sweet, but personally I like Squarepusher much more as a composer. I think some of his stuff gets a little too technical, just like Wooten and such. I mean, I can like that style, but I like hearing how he puts samples together along with his bass playing in his Drum n Bass.
