Several years ago, I read "no one here gets out alive" which is a biography of Jim Morrision. I think I remember it mentioning that the doors did a few tracks with a bassist. Also, when you listen to a song like L.A. Woman, You'd swear it was a bass guitar. Does anyone know the facts? And if so, who was the bassist? |

Ray still wrote most of the bass parts and when they played live he'd play the infamous fender rhodes bass.

Manzerek played keyboard bass live , but likr I said on most all songs there was a real bassist. Harvey Brooks played on A Soft Parade . Doug Lubahn was problably the closest the Doors ever got to haveing a perment bassist . He played on tons of their albums. If you ever listen to the song "The Soft PArade" he plays that line , his lines groove and bounce around everywhere. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archiv.../t-191264.html |

During the break in Roadhouse Blues you can hear Morrison saying, "Do it, Lonnie, do it". |

SHe is a great talent but seems to be a little low on remember what sessions she has really done. She claims to have played on Light My Fire. The Doors usually credited the bassists and she is no where to be found on the credits. CArol also said that none of the Doors really played on their albums , that it was all session musicians. Believe what you want I guess |

Good bass playing must run in that family |

Worth investigating for sure... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
