Double bypass bassists, or, the CABG Club

Just wondering how many other old fart bassists there are on here who have had open heart bypass surgery. I had mine on Jan 4th this year, healing up nicely, but , discovered tonight that it's just a shade too early to try to return to playing a full night.

I hired a sub to fill for me over the past month, had him show tonight just in case I couldn't handle the full gig. Good thing he was there, got overheated and shaky, bowed out as gracefully as possible and let him finish the night. Live and learn, as they say.

If anyone else has been in the same spot, wondering just how long was it before you could comfortably return to playing? I'm itching to be back to playing, but also don't want to cause myself any setbacks and have to wait any longer because of stupidly overdoing things.

I know my Dr is probably the best judge of these types of things. I'm just curious as to others experience with this situation. So if there's any others out there who have had a double bypass, or even a quad,...speak up and share some info with a frustrated and impatient geezer lowender! ** Thanks and good health to all !**
