Reed's muting is fantastic. The fills he starts adding about midway are genius too. I know he is already successful, but I sure hope he ends up on some more high profile recordings,

Sharay @ Chicago Gospel Musician Jam

Doc, that vid was pretty sick, so I checked out a couple others...

Another Sharay vid and oh man... this is the kind of stuff I've been dying to play lately:

Sharay @ Chicago Gospel Musician Jam (Edit: I've already listened to it 5 times... lol)

Certainly don't want to hijack the thread, but can you point us to any other bassists like this guy we can check out?

That style is pretty popular with young Gospel players. I think that Thaddeus Tribbett is another guys who is great at coming up with outrageous fills. Also think of the two masters: Andrew Gouche and Joel Smith. That young dude, Bubby Lewis is a monster too.

Even if it wasn't "gospel," that style of playing is where my soul lies. I wish my church choir could play stuff like that, but I'm not sure the congregation would go for it.

Thanks for the tips on the other players! I'm off to surf the Interwebs!

If you can think of any more, keep 'em comin'! (feel free to PM)

Thumbs up

Nice. That's my favorite track off of Voodoo- he cops the sound really well- he's probably using rounds on that jazz too.

That's the beauty of the internet, Mike. A local guy can post and get an international reputation! Sharay has had some major league gigs, so it's not like he's a nobody.

Here's another clip where he is featured although I could not actually see him:http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=3_aK...eature=related
