LOL! I thought everyone knew that Doug Johns is a MONSTER! Not only is he a beast on the bass, but he's truly a nice guy! I've ran into him a couple of times and he's always friendly and he always puts on a great show! Classy guy!

Yep! Dude is a monster bassist and deserves to lumped right up there with the Wootens and Millers! How many bassists can play bass and drums at the same time?? Goodness!

Yep. Doug was here in Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend and did a clinic and concert on Saturday. I had the privilege of playing in the opening act for the evening show.

Got to hang out and have dinner with Doug, and his drummer Chris Ceja, Friday evening after sounds check. These guys are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They have such a positive outlook on life you can't help but have some that rub off on you. An overall great experience.

BTW, Chris Ceja is a certified B@D@$$ as well!

I've been listening to Doug Johns for about the last year. I met him at NAMM when he was busy and he took a second for a pic and a quick chat. He invited me over to the Genz Benz display later and when I showed up he waved me over and showed me the ropes of the shuttle 9.0 and the uber410 cab. Talk about a mini clinic!! We talked for a few minutes afterword and he closed with telling me his new disk is in the works and he had a genuine thankfulness for all the fans that purchase his stuff. He truly was a cool cat and MONSTER player!

Doug is a good guy and fine musician, as is his drummer Chris. If you get a chance to hear him live, don't miss it.

Doug is the 'Bomb'. His two albums, 'Doug Johns' and 'Pocket Fulla Nasty', are packed with stuff I believe every bass player should hear. He's working on his third album right now. I can't wait. I give his music a pounding on my radio show too. IMHO he blows Victor out of the water, big time, and Vic is no slouch. Doug and Chris are musicians 'musicians'. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Yeah, I gotta say I prefer his tone and music over some of the "top" guys anyday. I guess he's had his Pedulla for over 20 or something and that thing has the legit roadwear for sure. Pedulla himself said he's been trying to get Doug to get a new one but he just won't do it. Just too much mojo in his current bass.

I've had a chance to play that bass ......I can see why he won't replace it. The neck is amazing. The strings are kissing the frets wihout a hint of buzz. The response and tone is even all up and down the neck too.

Here I was just a few days ago whining about living in a Cheap Bass Town, I went to my little indy music store, and lo and behold Mr. Johns will be coming here to do a GB clinic! Not knowing anything about him, I started some online research, and yes, indeed he is a major monster bad a$$!!! Just no other way to describe him! Totally excited to meet him!

Doug Johns will be giving a clinic at Bass Specialties, Bass Specialties, Bass Specialties :: Homepage, in Bensalem, Pa (just north of Philly). The clinic will take place on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 pm.

Jeff from GenzBenz will also be in attendance. While the clinic starts at 7. From 4ish there will be an "open house;" so come out for a meet and greet.
