Dougie Thompson - Showin' Some Long Deserved Love

I was going to put this on a most underrated thread, but I feel he deserves some serious love. God, I can't believe I had forgotten this, but when I was first learning to play bass twenty four-ish years ago, I practiced endlessly to the Breakfast In America and Greatest Hits albums.

I'm listening to some of the songs even now.

There is something about his playing; the simplicity; every note is perfectly placed... Oh, and his love of slidey bass bits! I thought I got that from Richard Page, but as I sit here listening to Child of Vision, I realize it was DT who gave me the love of the slide! He and drummer Ben seibenberg (who lives in the Sierra Nevada's not too far from here) complimented each other beautifully.

Dougie, where ever you are - Thank you for your wonderful playing and influence.

I'm a fan of Dougie too. So much so that I wrote a blog about him a few months back

Right on Sonicfrog! I always thought his playing is what gives Supertramp that professional slick sound.
